Energy systems in Germany – what does Brussels says?

The Commissioner pointed out that the new German Energy Policy was not coordinated with the EU. He is concerned, that the new sustainable energy sources are not base loadable, electricity generation varies a lot. It could happen that in summer months
Germany generates 30% more energy than it consumes (who buys this Current?).
And vice versa, in November it could happen that Germany has a 30% higher energy
requirements as it can produce (who provides this energy?)..

Other major issues in energy systems are the lack of major power lines and cable laying, and the lack of storage capacity for electricity.

 

EES Economic Discourse

In addition MEP Markus Ferber, Member of the Committee on Economic and Monetary
Affairs in the European Parliament gave a lecture on the subject: Euro crisis and its impact on the financial and economic policy,"
Dr. Rudolf Strohmeier, European Commission, Deputy. Director General of DG Research and Innovation spoke about the "Innovation Union" and
Rainer Wieland MEP, Vice-President of the European Parliament on the effects of Lisbon for Europe.

Panel Discussion

The EES Economic Discourse was followed by a panel discussion on the topic:
“European Energy Industry and Supply of Raw Materials. Is Europe in view of a
change in its energy policy? Is the Supply of Raw Materials still guaranteed?”

GÜNTHER Oliver (D), Board Member of SAG Solar AG and
Christian HEEP (D), Board Member of the eMobility
gave short lectures and discussed with the participants.
