Dr. Ingo Friedrich, Speaker at the Bosporus Summit in Istanbul

In his capacity as President of the European Economic Senate (EES), Dr. Ingo Friedrich (CSU) from the district of Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen addressed this year's Bosporus Summit in Istanbul.

His topic: "Europe, a stabilizing force in a world gone awry." Before 400 conference participants from over 30 countries, he explained that the major world powers—namely the USA, China, Europe, India, and Russia—bear a special responsibility for the stable development of our increasingly interconnected world. They must not act solely according to their own limited interests! They must always consider the global consequences of their decisions. If they fail to do so, a brutal "catch-as-catch-can" scenario will ensue, with incalculable and dangerous consequences for all of humanity. A heated conflict between China and the USA must be avoided at all costs.

Europe was the first to internalize this global responsibility, and India is on the right track. But the other three still have a lot to learn if they don't want to jeopardize their own existence in the long run.
