EES Economic Talks with Georg FAHRENSCHON,
President German Savings Bank and Giro Association on the Topic:
"Requirements for a Fair European Financial Architecture - Opportunities and Risks for the Banking Industry and SMEs"

It seems as if the Euro Crisis has taken a short break, but the crisis is still not overcome. After about 5 years it still holds great challenges. This applies to governments, parliaments, but also for the ECB itself, as guardian of the Euro, as well as to national central banks and the banking and financial sector. Face to the fact that the real economy is inextricably related with the financial sector, every crisis in the financial sector effects to the same extent a challenge for companies in the real economy, to the existence of a threat. Corporates, although sometimes with some time lags, “feel” any changes in the financial markets; the financial crisis has shown this more than clear. Functioning and stable financial markets are a key factor for economic growth.

With our EWS Economy Talks we want on the one hand to provide a deeper insight into the current European financial architecture, on the other hand we want to show opportunities and point out risks for the banking industry and SME.

As representative of the European Economy we want to contribute and represent the views of the companies in discussion with today's speakers, because entrepreneurs know best "where the shoe pinches".
