EES EU Live (04/2021) - The Digital Senators' Briefing
Video Live Talk with Dr. Ingo Friedrich, President of the European Economic Senate (EES)
and Dr Johannes Hahn, CU-Commissioner for Budget and Administration, on current European topics.
Every first Tuesday of the month, at 5 p.m., President Dr. Ingo Friedrich will personally answer the questions of our Senators in the "EES EU Live - The Digital Senators Briefing".
For more than a year we have been struggling with the consequences of Corona. With the number of infections rising again, the pandemic is not expected to end quickly. The EU is facing its greatest challenge since the Second World War! Frustration is growing among affected citizens and businesses and trust in politics is sinking. The crisis relentlessly exposes weaknesses of the EU, such as our dependence on Asia and other third countries for production and their products.
Europe must once again become the subject and less the object of development. The EU as a response to the crisis, a location for research and development, for production and value creation. Simply to say, more Europe where it is needed to tackle the pandemic and boost the economy. This includes transnational cooperation and smart strategies in the production of vaccines and immunisation, the creation of international hygiene standards and a European "Public Health Firewall", as well as a targeted and efficient EU funding policy.
What is the status of EU action on the Corona pandemic? What is the future direction of the EU? And what are the strategies for rebooting the economy? Can all this be done within the framework of the EU budget or the budgets of the nation states? We discussdd these and other topics with EU Commissioner Dr Johannes HAHN on 6 April.
